Dr. Kristen Walters was born and raised in Michigan and graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan with a degree in Brain, Behavior and Cognitive Science. She went on to attend medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. There, she was recognized for her educational excellence by being granted the Robert K. Richards Ph.D. Award of Excellence and was also inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. After graduating, she returned to the University of Michigan to complete her residency in Internal Medicine where she met Dr. Bassirpour! She completed her Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, CA where she served as chief fellow and was awarded the Ruben F. Gittes MD award for her research. Before moving to Orange County, she worked as an affiliate of Rady Children’s Hospital for over 7 years.
Dr. Walters has authored many peer-reviewed publications within some of the top national and international allergy journals. She is actively engaged in the California and Western Societies of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and stays up to date with the newest information regarding the clinical practice and management of allergic disease.
Dr. Walters believes in the importance of the patient-physician relationship and use of mutual decision making regarding a patient’s care. Taking the time to listen to her patient’s concerns and providing education are key components to the management of her patients.
When she isn’t working, Dr. Walters enjoys living in southern Orange County with her husband, two daughters, and their golden retriever.

As you know, allergies and their associated illnesses can be complicated and frustrating, and we too often see this having a negative impact on a patient’s quality of life.
